Laem Kruat is a small pier in Nuea Khlong District, on the coast south-west of Krabi. It is far from the beach resorts and much quieter than the piers near Ao Nang. Boats leave from here to the smaller islands off the coast, where life moves at a slow pace and there are few cars.
People come to Laem Kruat to reach those islands, not to stay by the pier itself. Boat schedules are set by the operators and can change with the weather. Facilities at the pier are basic.
