About Donsak
Don Sak became a full district in 1971. It lies on the Gulf of Thailand, and two ferry companies, Raja Ferry and Seatran, sail from its piers to Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngan. Travellers who land at Surat Thani Airport usually take their ferry from here, so the area is built around the ferry traffic.
The piers have waiting areas, ticket desks and small shops, but not much else. Ferry timetables are set by the companies and can change.
The ride
The drive from Krabi Airport is about 194 km and takes around 3 hours 10 minutes. It crosses the peninsula from the Andaman coast to the Gulf coast. Ferry tickets are paid separately.
