Taxi from Krabi Airport to Phuket Town
Phuket Town is far from the beach scene. Its old streets are lined with colourful Sino-Portuguese houses, there are good cafés and street food, and a Sunday walking street market. It is a pleasant place if you like city life, and it is where the main bus terminal is. A private car takes you directly to your hotel.
About Phuket Town
Phuket Town is the island's old centre. Its Old Town has ten streets of heritage buildings covering 2.7 km², in Sino-Portuguese style, with narrow fronts and deep rooms. Phuket is a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, and eating is a good reason to come. With about 71,300 people, the municipality is a small city.
The town is away from the beach resorts, so it suits travellers who like cafés, markets and old buildings. It is also where the main bus terminal is. Beaches such as Patong, Kata and Karon are a drive away, and a private car is the easiest way to move between them.
The ride
The ride is about 169 km and takes around 2 hours 40 minutes. The road passes through Phang Nga province and the Sarasin Bridge, and then runs south on the island to the town. Your driver takes you door to door.
